Sydney Brenner

Sydney Brenner received the Canada Gairdner International Award in 1978 in recognition of his highly original and conceptual contributions to molecular biology, and to the understanding of how genetic information is read and translated.

Sydney Brenner also received the Canada Gairdner International Award in 1991 for establishing C. elegans as a model for studying the genetic control of development.
