Demis Hassabis and John Jumper are the 101st and 102nd Canada Canada Gairdner laureates to win the Nobel Prize

Demis Hassabis and John Jumper have won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, “for protein structure prediction.”

Drs. Hassabis and Jumper were awarded the 2023 Canada Gairdner International Award, for developing AlphaFold, which has been heralded as an AI-based solution to the 50-year grand challenge of protein structure prediction and has culminated in the release of the most accurate and complete picture of the structure of the human proteome, with enormous potential to accelerate biological and medical research.

Drs. Hassabis and Jumper are the 101st and 102nd Canada Gairdner Award laureates to win the Nobel Prize.
