Véronique Giroux

Dr. Véronique Giroux is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Université de Sherbrooke, specializing in the study of stem cells and gastrointestinal cancers.
She earned her Ph.D. in Cell Biology from the Université de Sherbrooke in 2013, focusing on estrogen signaling in inflammatory bowel disease and colon cancer. Dr. Giroux completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, where she identified a population of stem cells in the esophageal epithelium.
In 2018, she returned to Canada to establish her independent research program, holding the Canada Research Chair in Gastrointestinal Stem Cell Biology. Her research aims to develop new therapeutic strategies targeting stem cells to improve treatments for digestive diseases and cancers.
