Savraj Grewal
University of Calgary, Calgary, AB
Dr. Savraj Grewal is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Calgary's Cumming School of Medicine. He also serves as the Senior Associate Dean of Research.
Dr. Grewal earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacology from King's College London and his Ph.D. in Cell and Developmental Biology from Oregon Health & Science University. He completed postdoctoral research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center before joining the University of Calgary in 2007.
His research utilizes model organisms, particularly Drosophila melanogaster (fruit flies), to investigate the genetic and molecular mechanisms that regulate cell and tissue growth. Dr. Grewal's work has significantly contributed to understanding growth control pathways, with implications for cancer research and developmental biology.
