Dr. Gavin Oudit is a Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Alberta and a Clinician-Scientist at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute.
He serves as the Director of the Heart Function Clinic and the Human Explanted Heart Program (HELP). Dr. Oudit holds the Canada Research Chair in Heart Failure.
Dr. Oudit completed his B.Sc., M.Sc., and M.D. at the University of Toronto, followed by training in Internal Medicine and Adult Cardiology. He then pursued a four-year postdoctoral fellowship in the molecular biology of heart failure.
His research focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying heart failure and cardiomyopathies, with an emphasis on translational approaches to develop novel therapies. Dr. Oudit's work has led to significant advancements in understanding the role of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) in cardiovascular diseases.
Dr. Oudit is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and has received numerous accolades for his contributions to cardiovascular research. He is actively involved in clinical practice, specializing in heart failure management, and is committed to mentoring the next generation of clinician-scientists
